I just stumbled upon it this morning, 2/24/73 at the University of Iowa. All that's left of the show is bits and pieces of the board (which is great quality) with one of the songs being this fantastic rendition of Playin' in the Band. It's no Veneta but it's very good.

Nice early '73 Playin' there but the hightlight of that show is the beautiful second set jam featuring a tremendous workout by Phil, imortalized by Kidd Candelario at the Tapters Section...

Holy smokes! Thank you for bringing that wonderful Phil solo and jam to my attention, Cliff! That probably trumps the Playin'; too bad most of the show is missing, who knows how fantastic the rest of it was.

Thanks, that is truly superb. I have stumbled across this show more than once and then decided not to listen because of all the cuts.

10-26-72 is a monster Playin'.

But there is also:

Over a dozen people in the reviews call this the best Playin' ever.

And should that not be enough, you can turn your thirsting ears here - the full half-hour version just recently emerged:

That Hofheinz version is the real deal. That may have surpassed Veneta as my favorite but the jury's still out.
